SWR Nachtcafé - In anderen Sphären

Being invited to a German talk show is already special. Being invited to speak about a life lived differently — that is something else entirely.

On Nachtcafé, I found myself in an incredibly diverse round of guests: people speaking about spiritual paths, encounters with a witch, psychological exceptional states, and even a lifestyle lived very consistently in the spirit of the 1920s. Every story was unique — and every single one broke out of conventional box-thinking. What connected us all was not a topic, but a choice: the decision to live consciously, even when that means going against the norm.

For me, that choice began with a diagnosis: multiple sclerosis. Instead of accepting a future defined by limitations, I chose a radical lifestyle transformation. Today, I live healthy and almost symptom-free — not by coincidence, but through intentional daily decisions. Nutrition, mindset, movement, recovery, and freediving.

Freediving became more than a sport. It became a teacher. Underwater, everything slows down. Breathing becomes awareness. Control turns into surrender. The nervous system recalibrates. Stress loses its grip. This practice reshaped not only my physical health, but my relationship with my body, fear, and presence itself. That is the story I shared on Nachtcafé.

And fittingly, for the first time in the history of the show, the studio background changed to an underwater world. A powerful symbol — and an incredible honor .

Michael Steinbrecher has a rare gift: he creates a space where the cameras disappear and real conversations unfold. In that moment, it wasn’t about a show. It was about truth, vulnerability, and the courage to live differently.

This experience reminded me once again: A lifestyle change is never “just” about health. It is about reclaiming the responsibility over your life. And sometimes, it even leads you underwater — and onto a national television stage.
