Have you ever wished for a camp that focuses exclusively on pool freediving? I did too. Two years ago, as I began training in the pool to improve my freediving skills for deeper dives and competitions, I longed for a space like this—where like-minded freedivers could come together to train, learn, and grow.
We are excited to announce our Pool Freediving Camp at Campus Sursee, Switzerland on January 18-19, 2025! It’s the perfect time to enrich your base training with pool skills, with competitions and the deep water coming up around spring time. Whether you’re preparing for pool competitions or just want to improve your underwater techniques, this camp is designed for you.
Last weekend, I had the chance to join a swim camp with four amazing and driven ladies at Sursee. It gave me plenty of time to explore the campus—check out the pool, try the great food, and even make friends with a cat! After teaching yoga in the morning followed by their two-hour pool workouts, I got to train alongside them and was blown away by the location.

The 50-meter lanes, 2-meter depth, and crystal-clear water were impressive—but what really stood out was the pool’s energy, it felt so fast and smooth cruising around with the mono. The atmosphere created by the right light, colors and visibility really makes a huge difference. That’s why I am more than confident to say that Campus Sursee is the perfect place to host this event.
But training isn’t just about hard work. There’s room for playing around too! We can add a fun dive video session in the pool area next to the 50 meter lane, where we have a spacious 5-meter deep pool measuring 15 x 15 meters followed by a wall where the pool continues with 2 meter depth until the 25 meter lane comes to an end. I spend 1 hour cruising around before the temptation of a hot shower finally pulled me in, as I was beginning to feel cold. This pool is also used for lifeguard training exercises from SLRG simulating helicopter rescues.

Make the Most of Your Training Time
Our camp provides plenty of flexibility. In Saturday’s morning session, you can either follow your own training plan or join our guided schedule. We have two lanes reserved for two hours each day, making sure everyone can make the most of it. Plus, we’re all about safety, so you can confidently push your limits under supervision. This camp is also a great chance to connect with fellow freedivers and athletes, sharing experiences and motivation.

Freediving Friendly Pool Environment
Many pools aren’t exactly freediver-friendly. But Sursee is different. The staff is super welcoming, and they don’t see us as intruders! Funny story—last weekend, the pool alarm went on because I wasn’t moving for a few seconds, but the staff was totally relaxed about it. Just remember to let them know we’re diving and they can switch off the alarms for us, so there aren’t any surprises.

Morning Yoga & Meditation
While freediving is our main focus, there’s plenty more to explore! Each morning kicks off with a yoga session, where we incorporate special exercises designed to improve and maintain your streamline position, increase lung capacity, and develop specific breathing techniques to support the parasympathetic nervous system. These practices not only promote relaxation and warm up your body and mind but also set the perfect tone for a day of freediving training.
Everything You Need, All in One Place
Sursee has everything you could ask for: a state-of-the-art 50-meter Olympic pool, a pool to fundive, a modern gym, and even a spa to relax and regenerate. The accommodation is just a few minutes from the pool, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner served at a fantastic nearby restaurant called "Baulüüt."
Perfect Timing for the Season
January to May is the ideal window to train for pool competitions and improve your freediving technique before the deep-water season kicks off. We are planning to host more camps during this period.
